After more than 30 years as an internal communications specialist, I decided to swap corporate life for the fascinating world of family history research. I have developed a deep interest in our social history and I love exploring the records left by our ancestors.

As a youngster, I was fortunate to be able to spend many happy hours with my mum’s grandma while I was growing up. I was fascinated by her tales about our coal-mining ancestors from Staffordshire and Wales. My dad’s mum also told many a lively tale about her Irish immigrant ancestors and what it was like growing up in Manchester. Those memories stuck with me. As an adult, I wanted to find out more, a curiosity which rapidly grew into a passion for researching my family’s history.

I am a member of AGRA (Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives) and abide by its professional code of practice and ethics. I am committed to the highest genealogical standards and on-going professional development. To this end, I gained the Higher Certificate from the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS) in 2024 and the IHGS Diploma in Genealogy in 2025. I am also a Member of the Register of Qualified Genealogists.

I have been actively exploring my family's ancestry since 2011, a journey which has led me from Nottinghamshire to Derbyshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Lincolnshire. There have been so many wonderful discoveries along the way. Although I will never be able to hear my ancestors' voices, I want to make sure they are remembered. I will research your ancestors with the same dedication and focus I bring to researching my own.
